LATEST PROJECTS

Week In Review

For WMCM, the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse student run TV station, Week in Review is the premier production of the entire week. In order to facilitate a show, I compiled 3 news stories as a lead news anchor for the show, and wrote scripts for those stories. Then, I compiled a rundown for the entire show. As this production was the final show before Thanksgiving break, we were able to incorporate alot of holiday themed stories that worked well in the scope of the program. This Week In Review was one of the better produced programs, and is one I take pride in.

Researching and Utilizing Analytics| The NBA and Competitive Balance

For a sports economics class at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, we were required to complete a project where we came up with a hypothesis about the sporting world and tried to test to see if we were successful in our hypothesis. I decided to research the NBA draft lottery and looked to determine if the draft lottery would increase, or decrease competitive balance in a sports league that is extremely top heavy. Based on my results, I was able to determine that the draft lottery was able to increase competitive balance in the NBA in addition to recieving an A on the assignment. In the PDF link above is my powerpoint I used when I made the presentation to my peers.

The experiences I gained from this assignment were researching, and the ability to analyze complex data.

For a professional communications class at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, we were required to team up and create a professional document that a local business or company could utilize. Because I was a youth coach at the time and my other group mates were involved in youth sports, we decided to create a document that would better assimilate new youth coaches into the Boys and Girls Club system. For the assignment, I researched many primary sources about coaching at a youth level. Personally I was in charge of interviewing the head and assistant athletic directors of the local Boys and Girls Club to get an idea of what specifically they would look for in a new youth coach. The assignment was extremely successful and we were able to submit the handbook to a local Boys and Girls club in La Crosse.

Skills I gained from the assignment were interviewing, researching, and group planning and teamwork.
